Here’s a very progressive ad from McDonald’s in France. IMHO it’s not only progressive, but also kinda cute (sweet even) in a very cool way.
I have read several FaceBook posts saying that the CE of McD’s in America has come out (no pun intended) and said this type of advertising has no place in a family restaurant. However I can find no other references to this online, and the Wikipedia article on McDonald’s adverting just mentions the French ad.
Anyway .. here is a reply parody. Also in French, and rather funny:
Black and White Version: See ads can be gay and funny without being stereotypically negative.
Thought about joining a gym but still coming up with an excuse (kinda like the same ones for quitting smoking I guess, or the diet starts tomorrow stuff)?
Anyway .. here’s your chance to get in now and get your gym membership subsidised by AT LEAST 40%. The offer starts on 1 August 2010, so if you are reading this before then, get in now before the rush!
Click on the image below to be taken to the web site of FitnessNZ, who is offering subsidised memberships at over 100 exercise facilities (gyms) around New Zealand.
There are some terms and conditions (which are all listed on the FitnessNZ web site), but the key ones are:
- This is designed to encourage NEW people into exercise, so current members (and certain past members) are not eligible
- There is a VERY limited number at each facility available – and this depends on the facility, so if you are interested get in now!
- You CAN buy this for someone else if you like, but they need to meet the criteria (i.e. a new member).
Black and White Version: Subsidised gym memberships available for a limited time – get one now!
Anyway .. the boys over at iphonewzealand.co.nz have made an EXCELLENT GUIDE for cutting up your sim and getting your new shiny iPad 3G working in NZ, so rather than me re-hash it, follow the link! I was actually researching this today, so it saved me a bunch of work PLUS means I don’t have to write up my own guide here
It even includes a cool wee template so you can trim your sim card to fit (sample shown on the right). I am not gonna plagiarise their work – so go to the site and read.
Black and White Version: XT is the network of Choice for the iPad in New Zealand, and yes it works, you just need a pen-knife and a new sim card (for now)
I thought EVERYONE knew how to hang toilet paper, but a quick google search reveals apparently not.
So, I thought I’d share something I found on the web YEARS ago, that keeps occupying status updates up on people’s FaceBook posts every 6 mths or so.
Often the short version of just the 1st image is shown, but this (IMHO) is just the what do to and doesn’t answer the more philosophically important important of why we should do it, which is really what all the other images are about.
Click on the image on the right to see an enlarged version.
Black and White Version: There is a right way to hang toilet paper, and it’s the OVERHANG way (ie the end of the paper on the outside over the top, not underneath against the wall).
Hat Tip: Images all come from Chris Regen’s Current Configuration Blog, and the full story of how to hang toilet paper can be found there. You can even download a pdf that you print and fold into a mini brochure.
I have have blogged many times, AirNZ does some pretty cool stuff. The word innovation would be at the top of list for descriptors.
Anyway, as mentioned yesterday, they have been working on some cool ways of getting a more flat “bed” like seat in economy class.
And today – the announced it. Watch the video here.
The biggest development is certainly in the economy class space where two people can buy three seats and get a lie down bed (sideways). In effect people have done this themselves for years – if there is a spare row of 3 or 4, you put all the arm rests up and use it as a bed. This is just taking that idea, making it more “official” and also a bed for two (even business class doesn’t do that!)
Anyway .. I give AirNZ an A-. Not TOTALLY revolutionary (like my idea of bunks, or other peoples ideas of pods), but very innovative, especially for an airline that has 12 hour+ flights for most long haul stuff.
I think AirNZ will win customers from this – I know for one if I was going with someone I would buy the extra 3rd seat (apparently at half the normal price) so that I could sleep flat.
Black and White Version: AirNZ does it again – very innovative!
My mate Bray was on Shortland Street tonight (his cameo). For those outside NZ, Shortland Street is like ummm .. how does one put this nicely, it’s NZ’s long running TV drama/hospital show thingie.
For people like me, who dont have TV, and/or just don’t like struggling thru all the bad acting to get to the scene, here it is .. in it’s full glory!
(For those that don’t know Bray – he’s the Nurse in the lift. Note where he looks when the other guy gets in. Can you tell I don’t watch the programme – I call him “the other guy” but I figure hes a main character).
Black and White Version: Bray Rocks!
